COSMETOLOGY
Cosmetology Certificate (Part-Time Dual Credit High School Program)
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
The 1,000 hour, four-semester curriculum plus 500 high school academic hours leads to a Certificate of Completion and helps prepare graduates to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Cosmetology Examination. All 1,000 hours must be completed before high school graduation to earn the additional 500 hours for academics. Successful completion of the examination will allow graduates to practice as a licensed Cosmetologist in Texas.
In order to be eligible to enroll in Cosmetology, Maypearl High School students must be juniors or seniors in good academic standing and on track for on-time high school graduation, must complete the Navarro College application process (No testing is required for Cosmetology), must have reliable transportation to and from Navarro's Cosmetology campus in Waxahachie, and must pay any associated fees. Students who are not successful in the first semester of Cosmetology will not be eligible to re-enroll for the second semester.
